POLARTEC is an internationally well-known U.S. manufacturer of flame-retarding and insulating military and outor fleece materials.

After the intense heat generated by the IED explosions melted the previously regular combat uniforms, in 2003 Polartec® began developing high-performance flame-retaining materials for the U.S. military.

When the United States Special Forces needed an active insulation that provides adequate protection both at the resting and dynamic stages, they developed state-of-the-art breath-insulating technology that dries rapidly, keeps the heat and circulates airflow, taking into account battlefield experience. Polartec® Alpha® products performed so well in practice that they were regularized for the U.S. Special Forces. In itself, this invention represented a whole new category in the demanding and innovative military apparel market.

There has also been an increased need to improve the preserving properties of fabrics used to protect against occupational hazards in commercial workwear.

POLARTEC has now further developed the fire resistance of the fabrics, which provide protection that meets high standards even in the most demanding service and working conditions.
